“A missing tooth affects far more than your smile. It changes how you eat, how you speak, and over time, how your jawbone ages.Dental implants are the only option that addresses all of this.”

Esthetique Dentistry of Ashburn - Implant Specialists
The Procedure

What Is a
Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium post surgically placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Over weeks, the post fuses permanently with the bone, creating a stable, lifelike anchor for a replacement crown.

Unlike bridges or dentures, dental implants don't rely on neighboring teeth for support and won't slip or shift. They preserve the jawbone, maintain facial structure, and function exactly like natural teeth, you brush, floss, and eat normally, for life.

At Esthetique Dentistry in Ashburn, our entire implant process, from planning to final crown, happens in-house with no referrals, no separate specialist visits, and no disjointed care.

Candidacy

Am I a Candidate for
Dental Implants?

You may be an ideal candidate if you:

  • One or more missing teeth, from decay, trauma, failed root canal, or gum disease
  • Good overall health, no uncontrolled systemic conditions affecting healing
  • Adequate jawbone density, or willingness to consider bone grafting if needed
  • Healthy gums, active gum disease must be treated first, which we handle in-house
  • Non-smoker or willing to quit, smoking significantly reduces implant success rates
  • Fully developed jaw, generally 18+ years of age for adults

Not sure if you qualify? Many patients told "no" elsewhere have been successfully treated here. A free consultation gives you a definitive answer.

Right for You?

We offer every type of implant restoration - from a single missing tooth to a complete full-arch replacement. All options are available in-house in Ashburn, VA.

◈

Single Tooth Implant

A single implant post topped with a custom porcelain crown - the most natural-looking, permanent solution for one missing tooth. No adjacent teeth are affected.

Ideal for: single missing tooth from decay, trauma, or failed root canal

◉

Implant-Supported Bridge

Two implant posts anchor a bridge spanning multiple missing teeth - eliminating the need to grind down healthy neighboring teeth as required for traditional bridges.

Ideal for: 2–4 consecutive missing teeth

◐

All-on-4 Full Arch

Four strategically placed implants support an entire upper or lower arch - a permanent, fixed alternative to dentures. Teeth-in-a-day is possible for qualifying patients.

Ideal for: all or most teeth missing, failing teeth, long-term denture wearers

◇

All-on-6 Full Arch

Six implant posts provide even greater stability for full-arch restorations - the preferred option when bone density allows, offering the most natural bite force and long-term durability.

Ideal for: patients with good bone density wanting maximum stability

○

Implant-Supported Dentures

Traditional dentures anchored by 2–4 implants - dramatically more stable than conventional dentures. Available in fixed (permanent) or removable (snap-on) versions.

Why Implants?

Implants vs. Bridges
vs. Dentures

Not all tooth replacement options are equal. See how dental implants compare to bridges and dentures across every factor that matters for your long-term health and quality of life.

Dental ImplantDental BridgeDentures
Preserves Jawbone✓ Yes - stimulates bone like a natural root✗ No bone stimulation✗ Bone loss continues
Affects Adjacent Teeth✓ None - stands independently✗ Neighboring teeth must be filed down~ Minimal direct impact
Bite & Chewing Strength✓ Full natural strength~ Slightly reduced✗ Significantly reduced
Expected Lifespan✓ 25+ years - often lifetime~ 10–15 years✗ 5–10 years
Looks & Feels Natural✓ Indistinguishable from natural teeth~ Mostly natural✗ Often noticeable
Stability✓ Permanently fixed - does not move✓ Fixed in place✗ Can slip or shift
Maintenance✓ Brush & floss normally~ Special flossing required under bridge✗ Remove to clean, adhesives needed
Bone Grafting Required~ Sometimes, if bone loss has occurred✓ Not required✓ Not required
Upfront Investment~ Higher - but best long-term value~ Moderate✓ Lower upfront
Overall Recommendation✓ Best long-term solution for most patients~ Good for 2–4 adjacent missing teeth~ When implants aren't possible

Implants are the only tooth replacement that stimulates the jawbone the way natural roots do - preventing the silent bone loss that changes your face and bite over time.

The Implant Journey

Step-by-Step
Process

Every implant case is unique, but every patient at Esthetique Dentistry follows the same clear, well-communicated path - with no surprises at any stage.

1

Free Consultation & 3D Imaging

Meet with our implant specialist to discuss your goals and assess your candidacy. We use our in-house 3D Cone Beam CT scanner to create a precise digital model of your jawbone - allowing us to plan implant placement with pinpoint accuracy before any procedure begins.

Day 1 - No cost
2

Bone Grafting (If Required)

If bone density has been lost since the tooth was extracted, a bone graft may be needed to create a stable foundation for the implant. This is performed in-house and typically heals over 3–6 months. Many patients do not require this step.

Not always required
3

Implant Post Placement

Under local anesthesia (with sedation available), our implant specialist places the titanium post precisely into the jawbone. The procedure typically takes 60–90 minutes per implant. Most patients return to work the next day.

60–90 minute procedure
4

Healing & Osseointegration

Over the next 3–6 months, the titanium post fuses with your jawbone in a natural process called osseointegration. During this period we provide a temporary restoration so you are never without a tooth. Regular check-ins ensure healing progresses as expected.

3–6 months healing
5

Abutment & Crown Placement

Once the implant has fully integrated, Our implant specialist attaches the abutment and places your custom-fabricated porcelain crown - shade-matched and shaped to blend seamlessly with your surrounding teeth. The result is indistinguishable from a natural tooth.

Final appointment
6

Lifetime Maintenance

Your implant is cared for just like a natural tooth - regular brushing, flossing, and check-ups at our Ashburn office. With proper maintenance, your implant is designed to last a lifetime. We schedule annual check-ins to ensure everything remains in perfect condition.

For life
Why Implants?

The Benefits of
Dental Implants

Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that fully replicates the look, feel, and function of natural teeth - while also preserving the underlying bone structure.

◈

Look Completely Natural

Custom-shaded crowns are contoured to match surrounding teeth with precision - patients and even dentists cannot distinguish them from natural teeth.

◉

Last a Lifetime

Unlike bridges (10–15 years) or dentures (5–10 years), dental implants are designed to be permanent. With proper care, they typically last decades or a lifetime.

◇

Preserve Jawbone

When a tooth is lost, the bone beneath begins to deteriorate. Implants stimulate the jawbone just like a natural root - preventing bone loss and preserving facial structure.

○

No Dietary Restrictions

Eat whatever you want - steak, apples, corn on the cob. Implants are anchored firmly in the bone and function with the same bite force as natural teeth.

Am I a Candidate?

Who Is a Good
Implant Candidate?

Most adults in good general health qualify for dental implants. A free consultation with our implant team will determine your candidacy based on bone density, gum health, and medical history.

One or more missing teeth - from decay, trauma, failed root canal, or gum disease
Good overall health - no uncontrolled systemic conditions affecting healing
Adequate jawbone density - or willingness to consider bone grafting if needed
Healthy gums - active gum disease must be treated first, which we handle in-house
Non-smoker or willing to quit - smoking significantly reduces implant success rates
Fully developed jaw - generally 18+ years of age for adults

Not Sure If You Qualify?

Many patients who were told they were not candidates elsewhere qualify after a thorough evaluation with our implant team. Bone grafting, treatment of gum disease, and careful planning can make implants possible for complex cases.

Very friendly staff. They made me feel comfortable. I have anxiety when it comes to the dentist - I've had too many bad experiences in the past. Thank you for taking the time to see me today. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking to get a free consultation on dental implants. Dr. Talwar takes the time with you to go over all your options she recommends.

Dr. Talwar did such an amazing job putting in my crown and post on my front tooth. I always forget it's not real! She advised me to see an orthodontist too so I could save my impacted tooth rather than just going straight for bone grafting and implants. She always comes in and checks on my progress over a year later now, even when I'm just in for cleanings.

With proper oral hygiene and regular check-ups, the implant post itself is designed to last a lifetime. The porcelain crown on top typically lasts 15–25 years before showing wear. Dental implants significantly outlast bridges (10–15 years) and dentures (5–10 years).
Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the procedure is. Local anesthesia is used throughout, and we offer IV sedation and oral sedation for anxious patients. Post-operative discomfort is typically mild - most patients manage it with over-the-counter pain relief and return to normal activities within 1–2 days.
Quite possibly, yes. Bone loss is common after a tooth is extracted. We perform bone grafting in-house at our Ashburn office - no referral to a separate oral surgeon needed. After a grafting procedure and healing period, most patients achieve sufficient bone density to support an implant successfully.
For straightforward cases without bone grafting, the process from consultation to final crown typically takes 4–8 months - most of which is healing time where you're not actively in the office. Complex cases requiring bone grafting may take 9–15 months total. All-on-4 patients can often receive temporary teeth the same day as their surgery.
Dentures rest on the gums and can slip or shift. They require adhesives, limit certain foods, and do not prevent jawbone loss. Dental implants are anchored permanently in the jawbone - they don't move, require no adhesives, have no dietary restrictions, and actually stimulate the bone to prevent deterioration. Implants are a significant investment but typically the superior long-term solution.
Yes, in many cases. However, bone loss can occur in the months and years following extraction, which may require a bone graft before implant placement. The sooner you address a missing tooth, the more straightforward the process tends to be - but patients who lost teeth years or even decades ago are often still excellent candidates after a thorough evaluation.
Exactly as you would a natural tooth - brush twice daily, floss regularly, and maintain routine dental visits at our Ashburn office. Implants don't decay, but the surrounding gum tissue still requires care. With proper hygiene and regular check-ups, your implant is designed to last decades or a lifetime.
