What are dental implants and how do they work?
Dental implants are titanium posts surgically placed into the jawbone to serve as artificial tooth roots. Once placed, the implant fuses with the bone through a process called osseointegration, creating a stable, permanent foundation for replacement teeth.
The implant system consists of three parts: - The implant (titanium post placed in the jawbone) - The abutment (connector piece) - The crown (visible tooth replacement)
Implants look, feel, and function like natural teeth. Unlike dentures, they don't slip or click, and unlike bridges, they don't require grinding down adjacent teeth.
At Esthetique Dentistry, Dr. Talwar uses 3D imaging and computer-guided placement for precise, predictable results. Most patients are surprised at how comfortable the procedure is with our sedation options.
